Download the album here: bit.ly Download Original album here: bit.ly This is a cover of Pink Floyd’s hit “Brain Damage” from Dark Side of the Moon done by The Flaming Lips. Released 2009. I’m not going to compare it to the original, because they are both awesome on different scales. Ignore the very beginning and very end of the video. Thats the way the program I use makes the movie. Not sure how to edit those bits off yet.

I really hate to say this. I really do, but this version captured the sound of insanity and brain damage more than any band…even Pink Floyd. DoN’T HATE

I looked for this covers because I read in a magazine that they sound like it would have sounded if Syd Barret had stayed in the band until 1972… Altough I don’t agree with that, I have to say the covers are pretty good.

not for me. i appreciate that the flaming lips made this out of nothing but love for pink floyd and of course they didnt want to try and just replicate and piggyback off of floyd, they had to do it their own way. however i think ill stick with the original

I think the one advantage this has over the original lies in the fact that they made it sound like a love song. The original Brain Damage was a cacophony. This one’s all harmony. One prescribed insanity, and sent the world clashing down. This one implies a chaotic union, eerie, almost melancholy.

Amazing collaberation of modern day music and original godly lyrics.
You did put heart into the video, and the song is flawless as well.
Both Pink Floyd and the flaming lips are music for those who dig the psychedelic scene. This music is forever and not a force on earth or the universe can ever change that. This music will live on in the dark corridors of the universe and the brightest of stars. Just simply amazing.

I like the original better, but this has a creepy space feel to it that is amazing in its own right. It reminds me of the Flaming Lips movie Christmas on Mars. It feels so alone and distant. Flaming Lips Bonnaroo be there!

@HeyJaw
It might be labelled Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs but they didn’t perform all the songs together.
They both performed: Speak to me, breathe, on the run, Any Colour You Like and Eclipse
The Flaming Lips performed: The Great Gig In The Sky, Money, Us and them
Stardeath performed: Time and Brain Damage
Check wikipedia, and iTunes if you still doubt

This isn’t actually Flaming Lips, it’s Stardeath and White Dwarfs. But since that is Wayne’s nephews band that is practically the same thing
